AN AUTHENTIC MEXICAN ROAD TRIP ADVENTURE

La Huasteca Potosina, a picturesque sub-region in Mexico’s state of San Luis Potosi, is home to some of the most stunning waterfalls, turquoise blue rivers, and fascinating attractions in all of Mexico.
We spent ten days in a van with eight friends touring the diverse country. Despite its central location, the region remains largely remote and allowed us to experience life authentically among the locals.
MEXICO CITY
Our journey began in Mexico City - the historic, economic, and cultural heart of the country, where we sampled world-class food, wandered trendy neighborhoods, and gawked at picturesque architecture.

MAGIC TOWNS
Passing North through the Mexican countryside, our journey led us through charming villages. Magic towns, or pueblos magicos, are towns recognized by the Mexican government for their “magical” qualities, whether that be their astonishing beauty, rich history, or extraordinary legends.

SURREALIST GARDEN
Through the winding roads and lush jungle, our van travelled to Las Pozas Surrealist Garden. Built by the British poet and surrealist art aficionado Edward James, Las Pozas is a fascinating jungle filled with stairs that lead to nothing, doors that open into nowhere, and bridges that end abruptly. This surrealistic garden in the city of Xilitla is a unique travel location that feels like a fantasy land.

NATURAL WONDERS
Our Mexican road trip would not be complete without visiting the country's many natural playgrounds. We spent our days jumping off waterfalls, canoeing up a river, swimming in a cave, zip-lining across a valley, and hanging over a sinkhole.

I hope these photos inspire you to experience your own Mexican adventure.
